You remember the Mulmaster Beholder Corps. From The Curse of the Azure Bonds. They talked a lot of tough, but had one tragic weakness: they were basically a large eyeball. Sure, they could bite you, too. If they could see you once you used the Dust of Disappearance you got after one of your first encounters in the thieves lair. Even though the battle is anything but epic after you figure out they can't see you and all you have to do is shoot arrows at them until they're dead it's still a heckuva scene seeing all those beholders there in one place. It looks a little bit like this...
That's my cleric R Chetwynd basically using a sling shot to destroy one of the more powerful and dangerous creatures in the entire Dungeons and Dragons mythos. Anyway, take a moment January 29 to appreciate one of the great encounters in Dungeons and Dragons history, even if the fight is really over before it starts.
